Video streaming giant YouTube is the latest major corporation to join the NFT (non-fungible token) revolution that is currently sweeping the media industry. In a recent blog post, the Google-owned company announced its plans to integrate NFTs into its platform by the end of the year.
According to YouTube Chief Product Officer Neal Mohan, YouTube will be embracing NFT technology in an effort to strengthen relationships between creators and their fans. "Giving a verifiable way for fans to own unique videos, photos, art, and even experiences from their favorite creators could be a compelling prospect for creators and their audiences," said Mohan in the new blog post.
The blog post, officially titled 'A Look at 2022: Community, Collaboration and Commerce,' arrives just one month after YouTube's CEO Susan Wojcicki teased that the company was considering dabbling in NFTs to increase creator revenue.
