Short, user-generated photos and videos and videos known as "Stories" are available across many social media platforms including Snapchat, Facebook and Instagram—and now, the format is being adapted for YouTube with YouTube Reels.
Unlike many Stories that are designed to disappear after a certain period of time, Reels on YouTube are not ephemeral in nature and will not expire. In fact, YouTube is introducing Reels so that its content creators are able to "express themselves and engage fans without having to post a full video."
YouTube Reels can be up to 30 seconds in length and can be enhanced with everything from filters and music to text and stickers. The more of these short-form videos that a viewer responds to from a content creator, the more their content will appear on one's feed.
