Ying Gao isn't the first person to create clothing that interacted with its environment. I do think it is safe to say, however, that she is the first to create an entire fashion collection made up of such exquisite and singular pieces. Ying Gao's high-tech wearable sculptures were displayed at the Musée National des Beaux-arts du Québec during a solo exhibit titled 'Ying Gao: Art, Fashion and Technology,' which showed off the best of her intelligent couture.
With a line that was predominantly light and airy, Ying Gao's creations breathed and glowed with an avant-garde air about them. One frock, dubbed Walking City, puffed in and out when a visitor breathed into a nearby microphone. Two other dresses called Playtime reacted to flashing cameras, one blurring as it began to shimmy and the other glowing in response.
