Converted Holiday Accommodations

London-based design studio Clementine Blakemore Architects has transformed what was once a 19th-century dairy farm into a holiday accommodation dubbed the Wraxall Yard complex. It is located in Dorset and is both an educational space and a community space all at once. A lot of the historic element was retained with efforts put in to restore the stone that exists. The team also ensured to use of the original clay tiles with new elements added including the lime mortar stonework.

Jury chair Matthew Goldschmied shares, "Sensitivity and ingenuity are evident in every detail of the transformation of Wraxall Yard. Inclusive and accessible design so often implies special treatment for one group or another, but this project appears to transcend all points of differentiation. The fundamental narrative for all who visit is a warm welcome to a nurturing place where a shared garden protects, comforts, and unites in equal measure. Relentless design consistency has delivered spaces that feel appropriate in scale, form and materiality – all of which are perfectly balanced throughout."
