Twin sisters Carlissa and Laken King are the founders of Elle & Cee World Girls, a company dedicated to connecting girls on a global level. They decided to empower and educate young women through the creation of a racially diverse doll. The ultimate goal is to eliminate stereotypes and encourage equality and universal acceptance in young girls.
The dolls are created with different face molds in order to represent different racial backgrounds from around the world. In order to reverse the negative stereotypes that are currently in place in some areas today, the World Girls doll will be able to counteract this from the early stages of childhood.
Carlissa and Laken have launched a Kickstarter campaign to help raise monetary funds to produce these dolls. They currently have three prototypes that include a United States doll, a German doll and a Caribbean doll.
