The Czech Republic-based Gurdau Winery has benefited from a fabulous winery design, created by none other than Ales Fiala, which is crafted to well and truly blend into the gorgeous rural Czech environs within which it sits.
This winery design makes use of a curvy shape that is topped with greenery, allowing it to take on an appearance akin to the rolling green hills situated in the area.
Ales Fiala noted that one of the standout features of the 'Gurdau Winery' building is the fact that a tremendous amount of energy and intent went into ensuring that the structure is capable of complimenting both the natural and cultural aspects of the surrounding area. "The roof of the curve is designed as an extensive green, and the surrounding area of the building has been planted with 150 shrubs and mature trees, often growing through the 'perforated' roof," the firm noted. "The overall impact and benefit of the new greenery on both the landscape and the building will only become apparent as the years go by."
Elsewhere, this winery design also makes use of a range of eco-friendly features that include heavily glazed windows, energy-efficient heat pumps and a rainwater capture mechanism.
