Patrick Dougherty used willow trees to build a twisted sculpture that weaves in and out of the Tippet Rise Art Center in Montana. The project, titled 'Daydreams,' was made to represent the connection between art and nature and eludes to the creative thinking process.
The piece was built with the help of 'JXM & Associates' and 'CTA Architects,' allowing for the large-scale project to come to life. In order to craft the intricate structure, Patrick Dougherty used the saplings and sticks from Montana willow trees to form hollowed sculptures that act to inhabit the students and staff of the Tippet Rise Art Center in addition to creating a whimsical aesthetic. Within these small caves are windows to look out from, with occupants welcome to lean against the walls and view the sprawling prairie landscape that surrounds the art center.
