This Irish Coffee Stout Was Aged in Whiskey-Laced Oak Chips

Boulder Beer, long venerated as the first microbrewery in the state of Colorado, marked the occasion of St. Patrick's Day by releasing an unabashedly Irish-inspired brew in the corm of a coffee stout tinged with fine Irish whiskey.

The Irish Coffee Stout makes use of heavy use of chocolate malts for a mildly bitter chocolatey finish, while the use of oats and a little bit of milky lactose allows for a creamy texture. Developed as part of a collaboration with Huckleberry Coffee, this particular coffee stout also happens to have been aged on oak chips soaked in Jameson whiskey. The oak chips were utilized in order to infuse some whiskey character into the brew.

The end result is a gorgeously creamy and stunningly delicious coffee stout with a wholly Irish character.
