March 20, 2013 was National Macaron Day and to celebrate, the Westin St. Francis created an impressive tribute to the beloved Parisian delicacy. The San Franscico-based hotel baked a lavish cake that could easily be considered the largest in the country. It is a towering creation that boasts over 1,000 handmade macarons, which range in flavor from pistachio to rosewater to yuzu.
A mouthwatering spectacle, the Westin St. Francis hotel definitely didn't hold out when it came to celebrating this special occasion. It is made up of five tiers, the final one being the most impressive. It takes on a gigantic cone shape primarily comprised of the macarons it pays homage to. The other four tiers are ringed with macarons, which get larger as they near the base.
