Water-Harvesting Theaters

Finland’s PES-Architects Have Created a Stunning Structure

This water-harvesting theater is a stunning and major accomplishment. Finland's PES-Architects have created a massive theater that not only features water harvesting and incredible architecture, the intricately designed roof changes colors at night. The 'Wuxi Grand Theater' won the 2013 Architizer A+ Jury Award in the architecture and weather category.

The stunning design features a butterfly-like roof with eight enormous steel wings that stretch out from the platform. These wings protect the building from sunlight and they shelter the interior from heat; they also harvest rainwater. At night, the building is illuminated by thousands of color-changing LED lights that can be programmed depending on the different performances that are being held inside. This building is the definition of incredible eco-design.
