In this surreal wartime photo series, photographer Gohar Dashti does a beautiful job portraying how tough life is in war-torn countries and how people living there have to go about their normal days in the midst of chaos.
The photographer draws from her own personal experience of living through the eight-year-long Iran-Iraq war for her photo series 'Today’s Life and War.' In the striking wartime photo series, Dashi photographs a couple trying to make it through and persevering to survive a war and keep up with their daily life. The series captures the couple going through normal tasks like having a meal together and hanging their laundry out to dry -- but unlike normal life, the images are set amidst barbed wires, armed soldiers and army tanks.
"In a fictionalized battlefield, I show a couple in a series of everyday activities… Though they do not visibly express emotion, the man and woman embody the power of perseverance, determination and survival," says Dashti.
