Scottish artist Jim Lambie's medium is miles and miles of colorful sticky vinyl strips. His geometric patterns have been painstakingly installed in various art galleries, filling the floor space with vivid and mesmerizing colour. His "Touch Zobop," for instance, was showcased in London's Tate Gallery. The video shows the painstaking work involved in making "Zobop" at the Museum of Modern Art in New York in March 2008.
He said, "For me something like Zobop, the floor piece, it is creating so many edges that they all dissolve. Is the room expanding or contracting? Covering an object somehow evaporates the hard edge off the thing, and pulls you towards more of a dreamscape."
His art has been installed on the vast floor of the Australian Centre for Contemporary Art in Melbourne, Australia for his most current exhibition. He also includes concave mirrors and other pieces with his floor art.
