Epidermis-Printing Technology

Wake Forest Facility Attempts to Rebuild Skin to Help Burn Victims

Wake Forest Facility is working with the U.S. army to create cutting-edge technology to help burn victims.

The scientists from the Wake Forest Facility are trying to use a printer to print new skin on burned areas of the human body. The ideas is to extract healthy cells from the patient and grow them in an incubator. The cells get loaded into a clean and sterilized ink cartridge which is then inserted into a large machine that hangs above the patient bed. A camera scans the burns which then tells the printer where to start printing and the cells to use.

The researchers from Wake Forest Facility are definitely onto something that'll be extremely ground-breaking should the technology come into fruition. There will also be plans to make this available to the public outside the army.
