Japanese contemporary artist Akino Kondoh’s black-and-white works of pastel, pencil and acrylic are hauntingly beautiful. Even more fascinating than her individual pieces, however, are the video art installations she creates by combining her original illustrations in Photoshop and animating them using After Effects.
The result is a flow of artwork that moves from one frame to another, seamlessly weaving a visual tale with music written by Toshiaki Chiku.
Kondoh’s art began in childhood, when her pencil-drawn doodles inspired her to write a comic book series in high school called Memoirs of a High School Girl.
