VetCT has announced it is trialling the use of smart glasses for veterinary care in the UK as part of a shift towards incorporating more advanced technologies into a vet's office. The trial is being performed with Google Glass and works by having the vet present wear the headset to stream the footage directly to a remote team of specialists located at VetCT. This could help to optimize vet care by allowing for multiple doctors to observe a patient and provide suggestions or additional viewpoints.
VetCT Director and Innovation Lead Julien Labruyère commented on the new initiative saying, "We have a tremendous resource of specialist knowledge and expertise within our global team and are constantly exploring new ways to provide support to veterinary teams. This first step we have taken with Google Glass marks the start of an exciting journey to make smart glasses technology useful to help vets in local practices."
