VEats is a newly launched digital platform that helps consumers locate plant-based options in their city. The new platform was founded by two Australians, Lara Young and Susan McCarthy, and is currently being rolled out in Sydney, Australia with plans to later expand into the U.K.
According to Young and McCarthy, VEats is a 'first-of-its-kind' app that enables users to explore a comprehensive list of businesses in their city that offer animal-free food options. From the digital platform, users will have the option to book tables at restaurants, order delivery, and queue takeouts.
The idea for the platform was inspired by Young and McCarthy's own struggle with adopting a vegan diet, and the excessive amounts of research it required from them to stay on top of their dining options. "I knew that if it was hard for me, it would be hard for anyone trying to make the transition to plant-based eating. That’s when I had the idea for VEats," explained Young in a recent press statement.
