Iris van Herpen had her third show at the Amsterdam International Fashion Week.
Even though van Herpen has had only two collections prior, all have had an avant-garde look and futuristic detailing in the couture.
Refinery Smoke is her collection for Spring 2009. She loves the look of a refinery at night: the complicated lines and structural complexity. Then there are the giant clouds of emissions that look soft, but are in fact sometimes dangerous.
She dreams big, asking "is there a time when clothing is unnecessary and we can wear something intangible such as smoke?"
