The Valentino Spring 2014 ready to wear collection was inspired by the opulence of the Roman Opera, which was ready apparent in their lavish collection. Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli debuted pieces with elaborate beadwork, intricate embroidery and geometric color patterns a look. The incredible detail and craftsmanship that went into the embroidered patterns alone is worth giving the collection.
The shapes were clean and elegantly defined, with the design houses signature high-necked, long-sleeved, nipped-waist shape adapted to the decadent bohemian theme. Fringed capes and ponchos added some flair, and the designers also toyed with some higher hemlines for a coquettish Roman-Gladiator look. To complete the Roman theme, models wore crown-inspired wrap around headpieces and flat sarong sandals.
