'Dust' is an unusual jewelry collection by Ágústa Sveinsdóttir that's part of the Spiritualism, Craft and Waste projects by graduating product design students of the Iceland Academy of the Arts.
The central themes of the jewelry explore transformation and disintegration, using materials that are no more precious than dirt. Although dust is something that's usually removed from jewelry pieces, this series makes it integral to the jewelry and turns it into something to be treasured by using a biodegradable adhesive to present the dust in place of a precious stone, although the dust will eventually become loose and find its way back into the earth.
The dust used in these jewelry pieces isn't just any old dust though—it was collected from "crannies in various abandoned farms scattered across the Icelandic countryside."
