Dual-Threat Disaster Devices

Universal Rescue Equipment is Both a Life Raft and Safety Shelter

Russian designer Ekaterina Dekhtyarenko has designed Universal Rescue Equipment, a conceptual device designed to help people on land and sea. The design is meant to have two functions; it can serve as a multi-person life raft and it can work as a shelter. The life raft is meant to be used by those who are lost (but spotted) at sea. (It isn't designed in a way that would be suitable for long-term use.) The shelter function of the Universal Rescue Equipment is its most awesome feature. It can instantly inflate to protect a person from an avalanche, rock slide or rainstorm.

Despite advances in technology and design, larger pieces of rescue equipment are still very basic. Universal Rescue Equipment isn't very tech savvy, but it is insanely functional and would undoubtedly be able to save lives if used properly.
