Chicago Tribune Reports United is Bankrupt, Stock Plummets

The Chicago Tribune ran a nine year old story on their website saying that United Airlines was bankrupt. The stock dropped by 99%, as you might predict.

So, for about ten minutes, billions and billions of investor money was gone… at least on paper. The newspaper realized their error, corrected it and the United Airlines stock regained what value was lost.

I would hate to work at the Chicago Tribune today. The Tribune is the newspaper that printed "Dewey Defeats Truman" that lives on in immortality.
