Zambian fintech company Union54 is launching a new app called ChitChat with built-in digital wallet features. One of the standout features of ChitChat is its ability to facilitate immediate USD payment transfers directly within chat conversations. Advertised as an encrypted platform, ChitChat hopes to make digital finances easy and accessible to African consumers.
The app also introduces the convenience of in-app currency conversion between USD and Zambian Kwacha (ZMW), streamlining cross-border transactions and eliminating the complexities often associated with currency exchanges.
Marketed as a "safe, secure, and sovereign platform for social commerce," CEO Perseus Mlambo was quoted as saying, "We aim to grow ChitChat into a platform that accelerates commerce across Africa."
Union54 has plans to expand its offerings to include USD debit cards in the future.
