The Ultra X is a folding bicycle, designed by Allen Sports, that makes a strong claim to being the world's lightest folding bicycle, certainly among those bicycles that look pretty normal. This is pretty incredibly given that most folding bicycles make use of hinges and locking mechanisms, and therefore aren't given to being lightweight.
Not only does the Ultra X have a lightweight payload, it is also equipped with a carbon fiber fork, seat post, handlebar, stem, rinks and a saddle. It is fitted with an SRAM X9 20-speed drivetrain and a Shimano front derailleur.
The Ultra X goes to show that there's always room for improvement in the area of bicycle design, and convenience and light weight can go hand in hand.
