New Balance continues to celebrate the 35th year anniversary of the New Balance 1500 silhouette and the U1500JI model by NB Made By Japan is the latest to come from the brand. It is a limited-edition colorway palette honoring the 80s model with an indigo-soaked design with rich blue hues.
Indigo dyeing is a process known as aizome in Japan and it has been a tradition in the culture since the 12th anniversary. The New Balance 1500 is joining the brand's line of indigo-dyed clothing as well. Notably, only three pairs of the hand-dyed U1500JI models will be given away. The rest of the shoes will be kept on display and can be viewed at the New Balance Harajuku store.
