David Schwen has created a series of typographic illustrations entitled Type Sandwiches.
The series features famous sandwich combinations in the Helvetica font. The combinations include a grilled cheese sandwich, lamb pitas, s'mores, Philly's infamous cheesesteak and Oreos. The colors of the typography reference the actual colors of what the word describes; for example, chocolate appears in brown.
This simple concept is unique and forms a great series. Schwen's work emphasizes society's sense of humor and carries the perfect appeal to pop-culture junkies, who I'm sure will be purchasing these prints for their home or as a T-shirt. The Type Sandwiches series is an updated concept from Schwen's previous Burgervetica (also known as Sanswich) print, which was released in early 2010.
