Trove August Wallpaper is hauntingly beautiful. The design for the covering was created by Jee Levin and Randall Buck for the Trove Spring 2012 collection. The Spring collection is science-inspired, with other wallpapers such as ‘Vertere,’ which uses leaf markings, furthering the series’ overall concept of nature.
This paper captures the faded memories of majesties past as an attempt to explore questions of identity. This wallpaper pattern in particular was inspired by renowned photographer Cindy Sherman whose work usually investigates the representation of women in society.
Each pattern features former queens of Japan, Romania, Greece, Prussia, India, Italy and Denmark. The overexposed nature of the portraits give the wallpaper a faded glimmer. This glimmer is emphasized by the variety of color choices for the paper, each of them have a metallic feel to them. This wallpaper is aesthetically pleasing, however slightly eerie it is, as it channels the regal elegance of these royals.
