In an effort to keep commuters informed, Transport for London (TfL) can notify you of travel disruptions by direct messages on social media. More specifically, the pilot program allows tube riders to receive service updates through their DMs on Twitter.
After users visit the TfL website and login with their Twitter account, they can indicate which lines they would like to receive delay notifications about. They can also choose to only receive alerts of travel disruptions when it is relevant, such as hours they usually commute. Currently updates are available for Central and District Lines as well as the Overground and Rail services, with plans to extend the project to the whole network, should it prove successful.
