Umbrella-Inspired Gardens

Trailfinders Australian Garden by MaxMax is Dynamic

The Trailfinders Australian Garden by MaxMax features a textile-made shade structure that is futuristic and bold. MaxMax engineer, Martin Eddleston and project manager, Julian Phillips worked alongside architect Ian Barker to create this distinctively designed piece. The design was constructed for the garden that took part in the 2011 Chelsea Flower Show in London, England.

The textile used to create the structure is both visually interesting and functional. It is a versatile choice that can be used in interior and exterior spaces. The umbrella-shaped element is inspired by early ships that were the first to visit Australian shores. Structural elements resembling large sails take cues from nautical and organic shapes and are made up of PVC and lycra making the piece multi-functional and durable.

This design is not only functional and forward-thinking, but is beautiful with its ability to provide shade during the day and light up during the night.
