Photographer David Waldorf visited a trailer park in Sonoma, California, for his latest series.
While some of the photographs align with our expectations (double-wides and weary-looking residents), other images are truly bizarre. Take, for instance, the shot of a solemn-looking woman wearing a wedding dress, holding the hand of an equally-as-stoic, shirtless man, as they both stand in front of a fire. It's like a ritualistic trailer park version of Grant Wood's American Gothic.
Sometimes sad, sometimes curious, the photographs are all fascinating. They depict a way of life, that, though technically mobile, seems to stay stuck in place. Frozen in time, almost. Beyond its hardships, living in a trailer park appears to be like living in a vacuum-sealed bubble.
