The smart Tovala oven was first introduced on Kickstarter in 2015 and since then, the multifunctional smart oven was invested in by Tyson Foods and introduced an improved design. Now, Tovala is introducing a new feature that gives people the ability to cook frozen foods from the grocery store by using the product's packaging and the smart oven's front-facing scanner. Currently, this feature only works with frozen foods from Trader Joe's but more options are set to be added in the future.
Although this barcode-scanning feature does not need to be used to cook meals from frozen, it saves consumers the hassle of trying to figure out the settings for preheating, temperature and cook time, or even where to place the oven rack for optimal results.
