There's something about the completely engulfing shape of a tortoise shell that gives the impression of comfort, and the Tortuga chair from design studio Nadadora brings that feeling to a piece of furniture. Created for Spanish furniture and decor brand Sancal, the chair's seat features a deep concave form with soft interior cushions that reference an inverted tortoise shell.
The Tortuga chair comes with an oversized headrest that can quickly and easily be attached and detached. Both this headrest and the seat come in a variety of colors, which tend to be muted in a Mid-Century Modern scheme. The seat also comes in both leather, suede, and wool.
Beyond the Tortuga chair, Nadadora designed additional matching pieces. These include an ottoman and a side table, both of which have a similar stance to the chair itself.
