The Toronto Sail In Movie event features two back-to-back movie screens that sit on a barge in the Toronto harbour, allowing audiences to enjoy while sitting on the pier or on the other side in their boats.
The charming event is a spin off from the once-popular drive-in movie. Now that there are fully accommodating theatres with plush seats, air conditioning, 3D, AVX and IMAX features, it is probably cheaper and more comfortable to go to the neighbourhood cinema. However, it is the novelty of the idea that will bring in crowds looking to get outside for a new experience.
The Sail In Movie is the only one of its kind in the world and is put on by Toronto Port Authority. It runs from August 16th to 18th and is totally free!
