Knife-Throwing Leagues

While hurling knives across a room at a brightly colored bullseye may seem like something out of a Hollywood action scene, this is just an average night at the Toronto Knife Throwing Organization (TKTO). Catering to everyone from adrenaline junkies to the Friday-night date crowd, TKTO provides a unique way to test out a dynamic new sport.

TKTO is the brainchild of Jonathan Howcroft, who initially fell in love with the pastime while practicing his skills with tree stumps in a friend's backyard. After finding a group of like-minded individuals who love the adrenaline-charged sport as much as he did, Howcroft decided to open up an outdoor range where others could come to practice their skills as well. In order to continue during Toronto’s harsh winter months, TKTO additionally opened up an indoor facility in Toronto’s East York neighborhood to keep the fun going all year long.

At the indoor facility, guests can come and test their knife-throwing skills, while seeing how they stack up against friends, family, colleagues and even strangers. After a mandatory lesson on safety and technique from one of TKTO’s world-class instructors, guests can take turns chucking 12-inch steel blades at the thick wooden targets. Not only does the skill-testing sport offer the kind of satisfaction that can only come from hitting a bullseye dead-on, but it also has an undeniable coolness factor that is guaranteed to impress.

For those who are serious about sharpening their skills, TKTO operates an official league for eager men and women to compete against and socialize with other knife-throwing enthusiasts. The club is also recognized by the International Knife Throwers Hall of Fame, which holds a world championships each year to celebrate those who have perfected the sport.

With nothing but proficiency and an enthusiastic attitude necessary for success, TKTO demonstrates that "just the tip" is all you need.
