In bid to create the ideal metropolis in which to host the 2016 Summer Olympics, the city of Tokyo is undergoing a metamorphosis. Artist Tomokazu Matsuyama will take this idea of an ideal metropolis and present a solo exhibition entitled, Tokyo! Tokyo!! Tokyo!!! at Vacant, an event space, in Harajuku.
Matsuyama’s work explores the integration of urban cosmopolitanism with reference to specific Japanese cultural and historical iconographies. The exhibition will include the world debut of a new light box installation, Nations United, and will be on display until August 30th.
