Molten Metal Morphitecture

This Tokyo Night Club Merges Sculpture and Architecture

The notion of one room flowing into another is rarely executed as smoothly as it is in this proposal for a Tokyo night club. Walls and doorways usually have ways of encapsulating separate spaces and offering opportunities to dress them differently. However, while no two spaces in this concept structure are identical, each transforms into the adjacent ones in a fascinatingly fluid way.

Tingwei Xu and Jiannan Liu's project looks impossibly complex and like the product of a mass cast on-site. Its organic swirling shapes and sinuous lines resemble the effect of heated and manipulated metal, complete with the highly reflective quality of the silver form. The cutting-edge and futuristic behavior of this Tokyo night club makes it fit for the chic neighborhood of Omotesando.
