Apparel company Timberland has invited rock legend Ringo Starr to help in the Timberland 'Canvas that Cares' initiative, which helps nonprofits raise funds by auctioning off limited edition, custom footwear to be part of Timberland's most eco-friendly brand, Earthkeepers.
Ringo Starr has created a multi-colored boot that features his peace sign artwork and his signature in white paint marker. As for the style of the boot, it is Timberland's Earthkeepers City 6″ Leather and Fabric Side Zip boot, which is made from organic cotton and a recycled PET core.
Seventy-five pairs of the signed boots -- sadly, only in Starr's shoe size, men's size 8 -- will be available for auction on eBay on Dec. 1. Bidding for each boot will start at $250 and all proceeds from the auction will go toward the organization WaterAid, which helps improve access to safe water in poor countries around the world.
