The Thom Browne Spring 2014 collection exaggerates traditionally militaristic garments and adds feminine detailing to them. Browne plays with strict silhouettes that could have once marched in Napoleon's army, accentuating strong shoulders and cavalry trousers with added volume.
The overbearing silhouettes in combination with the uniform look of all the models and the showing of the collection in a military school might have made for a very serious collection, but Browne makes his looks far less menacing with details like frilly socks, petticoats, patterns and red lipstick.
The final look sent down the runway was deceptively dark, featuring a model wearing a long black coat and carrying a white flag of peace to the tune of The Beatles' 'All You Need is Love.'
