The Think Dirty App reveals the ingredients in your makeup, since cosmetic companies are not required to do so on their labelling.
How it works is that users can scan the barcode of the product, and the list of ingredients will show up on screen. Each ingredient is given a rating of 0-10, with 0 being healthy and 10 being the least healthy. Overall product ratings are also given, so people buying the cosmetics can get a sense of how others viewed the lipstick or foundation before making the purchase.
Designed by Lily Tse, the Think Dirty App was conceived because Tse has always been conscious of the ingredients put in the items she buys. Her mother suffered from breast cancer, so since then knowing about what goes into a product has been extremely important.
