A new factory dubbed 'The Plus' that will manufacture Vestre furniture products has opened its doors in Magnor, Norway. The factory claims to be the most sustainable of its kind and is located in the dense forests of the European country. The project initially began in December 2020, with BIG and Vestre investing approximately 300 million NOK into its development. The factory is separated into four departments: the Color Factory, the Wood Factory, an assembly area, and the warehouse.
The company claims that ‘The Plus’ consumes 60% less energy than other factories and emits significantly fewer greenhouse gases. The factory uses solar power and natural plants on the roof and reuses the majority of its water for production. Vestre’s CEO Stefan Tjust advertises ‘The Plus’ as a "factory for the people."
