Michael Quirk Designs the Magnolia Eco-Cabin

Architect Michael Quirk is the mind behind the Magnolia Eco-Cabin which is complete with a compact structure and sustainable processes. The materials are collected from recycled waste and locally sourced approaches. It runs off-grid and uses solar power. The Magnolia takes up 11 square meters and it is nestled in a forest in Nederland, Colorado. It is complete with birch plywood blended with reused treated cedar shiplap siding, and pine wood siding.

Quirk explains, "The carbon-negative, eco tiny home was an idea that I came up with while on the Colorado Green Building Guild board, to highlight some of our members who are building material suppliers and also carbon negative/net zero energy building techniques. The cabin is successful in sequestering carbon through the organic nature of the materials used to build it."
