The French Laundry, a popular restaurant in California run by Chef Thomas Keller, brought in Snohetta Architecture's New York office to re-design the kitchen and courtyard. The project included the creation of a brand new kitchen that reaches 2,000 square feet with the ability to support operations of butchery, as well as a space to produce and store wine in.
By using modern materials and simple geometric details, Snohetta created a light-filled interior that is both aesthetically pleasing and also extremely useful. The company also completely renovated the landscaping, creating a sequence of gardens that lead customers through a lush pathway up to the restaurant. The French Laundry has been well-known for its cuisine and is now also known for its stunning design.
