'The Blue Box' has been developed by Judit Giró Benet as an effective, noninvasive way for women to test for breast cancer from the comfort of home. The system works by scanning a urine sample, which is reported to deliver 95% accuracy and thus encourage women to test regularly. The unit was developed in response to the high influx of false alarms that were observed by the Catalan Department of Health and to help offer an alternative method of testing that doesn't require periodic exposure to X-rays.
'The Blue Box' highlights a noninvasive, pain-free method to help increase testing capabilities for individuals, households or groups and was awarded the International Winner at the 2020 James Dyson Awards.
