The Albero is a customized book shelf created by designer Poltrona Frau. In contrast to many book case structures that span the width of office spaces and home interiors, this piece sits in an upright vertical position, much like a tree trunk.
This atypical furniture piece is as much functional as it is durable. An assortment of small cubes provide ample storage space for novels, publications or objects, depending on how one chooses to use the piece. It is also made of Canaletto walnut that moves in a circular 360 degree motion, enabling owners of The Albero to place it in varying positions.
Interestingly, while this shape appears quite modern, it is actually a new take on the 1950s portfolio of architect Gianfranco Frattini.
