The Tetra Light may look like it is part of a light art installation, but it is in fact a desk lamp for the home or office. Inspired by the highly stylized retro-futurism of the film 'Bladerunner,' its neon geometric aesthetic will not necessarily appeal to sci-fi geeks alone. Instead, the design has been executed so well, the Tetra Light could fit into many different living spaces easily.
Created by Brooks Atwood, assistant professor of Industrial Design at NJIT and principal of POD Design, the Tetra Light pushes the limits of glass by boasting three bends. It also challenges the idea of fluorescent lighting. The Tetra Light essentially relieves traditional curvy neon letters of all excess, resulting in simple and clean lines that becomes pure geometry.
