The creatives from the Bo&Bong Ceramic Art Studio and the Nothing Design Group teamed up to transform a series of ceramic tea cups into elegant landscape lamps that make use of the mug's domed shape to act as a lamp shade. The delicate porcelain lights creatively merge unconventional design with illustrations that draw upon Korean cultural art for inspiration.
The lamps, dubbed the Lightning Cups, feature a series of modular landscapes depicted on an upside down tea cup. The landscapes feature illustrations of mountains and the sun,c capturing Soomook-sansuhwa artistry into the lamp's design. The cup is then illuminated using a light source underneath the mug that shines through the ceramic creating an ambient glow. The small light can be used as a decorative piece for tables and shelves.
