Austrian artist Martin Roth created an interactive art instillation that features actual materials from the Syrian War and even a series of live animals
Simply titled 'Untitled (Debris),' this art instillation is exhibited in New York City but recreates the experience of walking through a place ravaged by the Syrian Civil War. Rubble, dirt, cinder blocks and barbwire take participants along the experience of what the artist himself came across while visiting the war torn country. Audio elements of sirens and a young refugee child playing harmonica further add to the immersive experience.
Perhaps most intriguing is the element of live animals introduced into this interactive exhibit. Frogs from New York City's China Town were rescued from being sold for food and occupy a partially flooded basement space. Adding a more lighthearted element, rescued yellow parakeets from a shelter for abandoned pets are housed in one room and fly around the scattered debris form the Syrian War they now call home.
