When one typically hears the word "poutine," it is rare that the thought of a cup filled with various sugary donuts is what comes to mind. To celebrate Toronto's Canadian National Exhibition (CNE) carnival Tim Hortons unveiled just that by creating a sweet poutine made from Timbits and fun toppings.
Traditionally a poutine is made by layering French fries with gravy and cheese curds. However in this sweet dish, Tim Horton's donut holes take the place of the fries while toppings like flavored whipped cream, chocolate and sprinkles replace the gravy and cheese. The Timbit poutines come in a variety of flavors including Cookies and Cream, Maple Cinnamon French Toast, Chocolate Lovers and even Birthday Cake with cake batter Timbits. The dessert is a great example of homage to Canadian cuisine made anew unique ingredients.
