Strawberry Thief is the name of a new iPad game that will steal people's hearts on a purely aesthetic basis. Created for the Victoria & Albert Museum, it is based on the textiles of 19th-century British Arts and Crafts movement designer William Morris. Although it looks more like a gorgeous screensaver than a game, the Strawberry Thief revolves around a simple premise: A bird is in search of strawberries among a sea of swirling vines and flowers.
Designed by Sophia George, the museum’s first game designer-in-residence, the complexity of Strawberry Thief grows as the bird collects more and more strawberries. With each find, "the bird is able to draw first the outlines of Morris's 1883 pattern, then basic colors, and finally richer colors and textures," as written by Fast Co Design.
