Starwood Hotel and ressorts recently opened an innovation center called 'Starlab' that takes inspiration from many of its luxury hotels throughout the world. The highlight of the center is its one-of-a-kind conference room that has the look and feel of a gallery, rather than a typical mundane meeting area.
The theme for Starlab's conference room combines elements from Starwood's Luxury Collection, St. Regis, W and Le Méridien brands. The items used to decorate the room are thoughtfully curated artifacts from these hotels.
An example includes a sculpture of an airplane which refers to Le Méridien's mid-century aesthetic and the brand's founder Air France. Also, a curio cabinet shows travel memorabilia from vintage compasses, cameras, stamps and currency from around the world. Another standout piece is a saber, which reflects the nightly ritual at St.Regis Hotels where a bottle of champagne is uncorked with the sword.
