Starbucks Shipping Container Location Opens in Washington

The last few years have seen shipping containers used for restaurants, stores and other establishments, and now the world's coffee giant has joined the club with the Starbucks shipping container location in Tukwila, Washington.

This particular Starbucks store -- called the 'Reclamation Drive-Thru' -- is a a drive-through and walk-up location made out of four recycled shipping containers. Inside, there is only enough room for three baristas to work. With the classic Starbucks design aesthetic of brown tones, the building has been designed according to LEED green building standards and even features integrated rainwater harvesting, according to PSFK.

While the Starbucks shipping container Reclamation Drive-Thru is a first for the coffee brand, the company hopes to apply this concept to more cafes in the near future. According to Alan Hilowitz, spokesman for Starbucks, these shipping container shops would also be useful as temporary stores when existing ones are being remodeled.
